According to a statement by Chief Executive Tim Cook, Apple has imported more than 20 million face masks and is now building and shipping face shields to Hospitals and medical organizations.

Apple is dedicated to supporting the worldwide response to COVID-19. We’ve now sourced over 20M masks through our supply chain. Our design, engineering, operations and packaging teams are also working with suppliers to design, produce and ship face shields for medical workers.

The company is partnering with governments around the world to deliver their face masks to where they’re most needed.

Currently, according to Cook, the first delivery of the company’s Apple face shields went out last week to Kaiser hospital facilities in the Santa Clara valley.

The masks pack flat Cook noted, and ship 100 to a package. They are fully adjustable and can be assembled in less than two minutes. Cook said the company will ship 1 million by the end of the week and expect an additional 1 million face shields to be delivered weekly with a target of expanding distribution outside the US.
