Many non-essential employees in Spain are returning to their employment as constraints on the coronavirus lockdown are beginning to loosen.

The larger lockdown will continue to stay in place.

This decision comes soon after the country recorded its lowest daily increase in confirmed coronavirus cases in three weeks.

On Monday, Health officials said there were 517 new fatalities reported, dropping from Sunday’s 619.

Currently, Italy still has the largest death toll in Europe, with another 566 fatalities reported on Monday, bringing the death toll in Italy to 20,465.

Italy’s coronavirus death toll made it the world’s second-largest country to cross 20,000 deaths, after the US.

In Italy, the number of confirmed cases stands at 159,516, the third-highest global figure after the United States and Spain.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Spain is 17,489.

Industry and construction workers will be able to return to work following a two-week closure that suspended all businesses aside from healthcare and food services.

Shops, aside from supermarkets, fruit shops, bakeries, butchers, news-stands, and pharmacies, will remain closed.
