On Thursday, a document indicated that further steps were agreed on by Germany’s coalition parties to protect staff and businesses from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The document noted that an assistance package was agreed on, by senior leaders of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s ruling coalition, the package includes higher state transfers for citizens in short-time work schemes, with the government covering up to 80 percent of net income lost.
The parties decided to temporarily decrease the tax burden on the catering sector by a lowered rate of VAT of 7 percent and to offer tax relief for small businesses.
