On Monday, the World Health Organization chief said that “slow, steady lockdown lifting” was crucial, as a spike in new coronavirus infections in South Korea and Germany increased global fears about a second wave.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told an online news briefing:

“Lifting lockdowns are both complex and difficult,”
