On Friday, Amazon announced that they plan to resumes operations starting Tuesday at its six French warehouses, which were temporarily shut down after a labor dispute regarding working conditions.
Amazon has been stuck in a battle with labor unions that claim that they are not doing enough to stop the spread of coronavirus in their warehouses.
The coronavirus lockdown in France, brought in a large number of online sales from customers being forced to buy essential items online as stores nationwide shut down, forcing employees to process a flood of orders quickly, causing delivery delays and other significant problems.
In a joint staff union statement, Amazon workers said that they and the management had “agreed on the conditions for resuming the activity of the six warehouses located on French territory from May 19.”
The statement also mentioned that the gradual resuming of operations would be “gradual and based on being voluntary.”
The exact details regarding the resumption of operations will be set out in a meeting on Monday.
