On Saturday, Brazil’s health ministry reported 965 new coronavirus fatalities, taking the death toll in the country to 22,013.

According to the ministry, the country now has 347,398 reported cases up 16,508 from Friday.

The total number of cases and fatalities is estimated to be greater than government published figures, as the testing ability of the largest country in Latin America is still low.

Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro, has been harshly denounced for his treatment of the coronavirus outbreak in Brazil, contributing to the resignation of two health ministers in the wake of his focus on opposing social distancing measures and promoting the usage of unproven medications to treat the virus.
