
On Tuesday, the Government of Panama said that it would begin to relax select coronavirus lockdown measures in June by permitting the resumption of operations in sectors such as construction, nonmetallic mining, and pharmaceuticals.
Health Minister Rosario Turner told reporters in a press conference:
“Starting on Monday, June 1, the opening of the second block of economic activities can begin,”
In the second stage of economic reopening, trade minister Ramon Martínez also mentioned that the textile, electronics, and electricity sectors would be able to resume operations.
Curfews, places of worship, parks, and sporting facilities will also be able to re-open at up to 25% capacity.
