On Monday, Governor Yuriko Koike said, citing the recommendation of an advisory panel, that lockdown measures put in place to contain the spread of coronavirus in Japan’s capital, Tokyo, would be eased.
Koike told a news conference on Friday that Cram schools, gyms, and theatres are among the facilities that will be allowed to reopen during a phased lockdown relaxation process.
After a decline in daily infections, Japan lifted it’s state of emergency for Tokyo this week. The country has registered approximately 17,000 infections and about 900 fatalities at the time of writing.
