Co-founder of Reddit quits board and calls for black replacement

Alexis Ohanian, Reddit co-founder, has resigned from the board of the tech company and urged the company to replace him with a black candidate.

The technology entrepreneur also vowed to “serve the black community.” with the future gains of his Reddit stock.

Ohanian’s move comes just days after protests against police brutality and racial inequality began across the US.

Mr. Ohanian, who is married to the black tennis champion, Serena Williams, said he would contribute $1 million to Know Your Rights Camp, a non-profit organization founded by former NFL quarterback, Colin Kaepernick.

Alexis Ohanian and his college roommates Aaron Swartz and Steve Huffman created the Social Media network, Reddit, 15 years ago.

Ohanian said in a video:

“I believe resignation can actually be an act of leadership from people in power right now,”

“To everyone fighting to fix our broken nation: do not stop.”
