On Wednesday, face coverings became mandatory in all public areas in Brussels due to a spike in COVID-19 infections.

Visitors and residents will now need to wear a face mask while they are in parks, streets, and all other public places, as well as in private spaces that are open to the public.

Previously, masks were only mandatory in busy public areas and enclosed locations, such as malls.

Children under 12 years of age and individuals undertaking sport or physical activity will not be forced to wear a mask.
