
On Tuesday, only hours after he was detained by mutinying soldiers, Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita announced that he was dissolving parliament and resigning.
Keita said in a televised broadcast:
“I want no blood to be spilled to keep me in power,”
President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta was previously detained on Tuesday evening by mutinying soldiers at his private residence in what the United Nations called an attempted coup.
