On Thursday, coronavirus related fatalities in the United States exceeded 180,000, the largest number of recorded deaths in the world, followed by Brazil, Mexico, India, and the United Kingdom.
Despite the sharp rise in fatalities, there are signs of an improving outcome. Last week, deaths dropped 17 percent from the previous week and hit below an average of 1000 recorded deaths a day.
Health experts warn that another surge in cases will soon arrive as schools reopen, and colder weather arrives, forcing people to gather inside.
In total, the United States has recorded more than 5.8 million coronavirus infections, the highest number of cumulative cases worldwide, followed by Brazil, India, Russia, and South Africa.
