Under a new set of rules laid out by Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, German football fans will not be permitted back into stadiums until 2021, amid a rise in coronavirus infections. Rules regarding face coverings will also be toughened, with large gatherings remaining banned, including festivals, concerts, and major sporting events.

The new set of rules comes amid a sharp rise in infections in Germany, France, and many other countries, who were once thought to have the virus primarily under control.

Football spectators may be able to return to stadiums in October, although social distancing will be enforced.

Additionally, Fines for not wearing a face mask in public areas and public transport will also increase to €50.
