On Sunday, India reported 78,761 new coronavirus infections, making up for the single highest daily infection increase in the world.
Additionally, India’s health ministry reported 948 new coronavirus fatalities, bringing the total death toll in the country to 63,498.
The newly reported cases take the total coronavirus caseload in the country to 3.5 million.
