On Monday, Mustapha Adib is set to be appointed prime minister, ahead of a visit to Beirut by Emmanuel Macron, French President, who will push for long-delayed reforms to guide the Middle East nation out of its serious crisis.

Recently, Macron came to the forefront in international attempts to get politicians of Lebanon to begin resolving a financial crisis that had ravaged the country long before a major explosion in the port of Beirut on Aug. 4 that caused the deaths of approximately 190 people.

After being supported by former prime ministers on Sunday, including Saad al-Hariri, who leads the largest Sunni Muslim party in Lebanon, Adib has emerged as the number one choice for premier.

On Monday, Macron is set to arrive in Lebanon, and on Tuesday, he will attend a meeting with politicians.
