On Tuesday, Pakistan announced that it had blocked Tinder, Grindr, Tagged, Skout, and SayHi, all of which are dating apps, for not complying with local laws, in its recent push to curtail online platforms considered to spread “immoral content.”
In Pakistan, homosexuality and extra-marital relationships are against the law.
The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority said it submitted notices to the directors of the applications, “keeping in view the negative effects of immoral/indecent content streaming.”
The PTA said that the companies failed to respond to the notices within the required period.
