On Saturday, India’s health ministry reported 97,570 new coronavirus infections, marking the second consecutive day of a record rise in cases.
India currently has approximately 4.65 million reported infections, making up for the world’s second-worst coronavirus outbreak.
Bhramar Mukherjee, a professor of biostatistics and epidemiology, said on Twitter:
“I am so disappointed with the pandemic situation in India,”
“It is getting worse and worse each week but a large part of the nation seems to have made the choice to ignore this crisis,”
