On Wednesday, the German government announced that Alexei Navalny’s recovery was ‘encouraging’ and welcomed news that his condition had further improved following his poisoning on Aug. 20.

Germany also announced that a second request for judicial assistance had been submitted by Moscow.

Russia has repeatedly denied that it was involved with Alexei Navalny’s poisoning.

Ulrike Demmer, a German government spokeswoman, told reporters:

“The German government is relieved about the latest news from the Charité, according to which the health situation of Alexei Navalny has further improved,”

“That is encouraging, and the German government wishes Mr. Navalny a quick and complete recovery.”

Previously, Germany demanded that Russia address inquiries about what happened to Navalny. A german laboratory also previously announced that Navalny had been poisoned with Novichok, a Soviet-era nerve agent developed between 1971 and 1993.
