On Saturday, at a White House Rose Garden ceremony, Judge Amy Coney Barrett was formally nominated by President Donald Trump to succeed the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg and serve on the United States Supreme Court.
Trump said at the ceremony:
‘Today it is my honor to nominate one of our nation’s most brilliant and gifted legal minds to the Supreme Court,’
‘She is a woman of unparalleled achievement, towering intellect, sterling credentials and unyielding loyalty to the Constitution: Judge Amy Coney Barrett.’
On September 18, 2020, age 87, Ginsburg passed away at her home in Washington, D.C., from pancreatic cancer.
If Judge Barrett is confirmed by the Senate, Barrett will shift the conservative majority in the U.S. supreme court to 6-3 and will be the third justice appointed by Donald Trump.
