On Tuesday, Walt Disney Co announced that it planned to lay off approximately 28,000 employees due to a low number of visitors amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Chairman of the parks unit, Josh D’Amaro, said in a statement:
“We have made the very difficult decision to begin the process of reducing our workforce at our Parks, Experiences and Products segment at all levels,”
“We simply cannot responsibly stay fully staffed while operating at such limited capacity,”
Disney officials said that the layoffs would include part-time workers, full-time employees, and non-union employees.
