On Tuesday, the United Kingdom reported 7,143 new coronavirus infections and 71 additional fatalities, marking the highest increase in cases since the pandemic began.
The 71 new fatalities also mark the highest rise in deaths since July 1, when 97 fatalities were reported in a single day.
