India is now closely following behind the United States, with approximately 212,000 fatalities, and Brazil, with 144,000 fatalities.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 35 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.2 million fatalities across 188 countries and territories.
