India: COVID-19 death toll tops 100,000

On Friday, India’s confirmed COVID-19 fatalities topped 100,000, although the true death toll is most likely much higher than published figures.

India is now closely following behind the United States, with approximately 212,000 fatalities, and Brazil, with 144,000 fatalities.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 35 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.2 million fatalities across 188 countries and territories.
