
On Thursday, health officials in France reported 30,621 new COVID-19 infections and 88 additional fatalities, marking the highest daily rise in cases for the first time since the start of the outbreak in France.
The additional 88 fatalities brought the death toll in the country to 33,125.
Previously on Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron announced a nighttime curfew in nine major cities where COVID-19 cases were rapidly rising.
