The coronavirus pandemic has already forced many to shelve their planned vacations and celebrations for 2020, and now there is a growing fear that Christmas could be added to that list following a series of new restrictions being imposed across the country.

Top scientists have warned that a COVID-19 vaccine is most likely not going to be ready for Christmas, meaning the most vulnerable such as the elderly, may have trouble buying food and gifts.

On October 12 a the three-tier system was revealed by the Government to organize local areas based on coronavirus infection rates, forcing many to fear that they won’t be able to visit family and friends during the Christmas period.

Individuals in the tier 1 sector, whether meeting indoors or outside, would have to follow the rule of six. Pubs would also have to close at 10 pm.

Individuals in Tier 2 are going to be prohibited from socializing indoors with other households and will have to comply with the rule of six. Similar to tier 1, at 10 pm, bars and restaurants will have to close.

Lastly, individuals in tier 3 would not be permitted to mix with other households, in hospitality venues or private gardens. The rule of six will apply to outdoor public spaces like parks, and lastly, pubs and bars not serving meals will be forced to close.

All these restrictions mean that many people will have to shelve their regular schedules and change their plans when new restrictions appear.
