On Monday, Switzerland reported 21,926 new COVID-19 infections and 56 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.
In total, Switzerland has reported 176,177 COVID-19 cases and 2,382 coronavirus related fatalities.
The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 9.4 million infections and 236,571 fatalities, although India follows closely behind with 8.2 million cases and 122,891 deaths. As for the third-highest case toll and death toll, Brazil follows with 5.5 million cases and 160,104 deaths, Russia with 1.6 million cases and 28,473 deaths, and France with 1.4 million cases and 37,019 coronavirus related deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 47 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.3 million fatalities across 216 countries and territories.
