India: 43,659 new COVID-19 infections, 440 fatalities reported

On Tuesday, India reported 43,659 new COVID-19 infections and 440 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, India has reported 8,310,573 COVID-19 cases and 123,579 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 9.5 million infections and 237,177 fatalities, although India follows closely behind with 8.3 million cases and 123,579 deaths. As for the third-highest case toll and death toll, Brazil follows with 5.5 million cases and 160,282 deaths, Russia with 1.6 million cases and 28,828 deaths, and France with 1.4 million cases and 37,435 coronavirus related deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 47 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.3 million fatalities across 216 countries and territories.
