The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 10.5 million infections and 246,034 fatalities, although India follows closely behind with 8.6 million cases and 127,861 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 5.7 million cases and 163,078 deaths, Russia with 1.8 million cases and 31,593 deaths, and France with 1.8 million cases and 42,207 coronavirus related deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 53 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.3 million fatalities across 216 countries and territories.
