As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 5.7 million cases and 164,514 deaths, Russia with 1.8 million cases and 32,443 deaths, and France with 1.9 million cases and 43,892 coronavirus related deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 53 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.3 million fatalities across 216 countries and territories.
