Over recent days, top scientists and doctors have warned that a second COVID-19 wave is now sweeping across the UK, forcing Boris Johnson to implement strict restrictions across the country.

Coronavirus cases and deaths have sharply risen over the past couple of days, with 33,470 new cases reported on November 12, marking the highest ever daily rise.

Previously on November 5, Boris Johnson ordered all pubs, bars, restaurants, and non-essential retailers to close as part of lowering infection rates.

As part of the new restrictions implemented across the country, Johnson has ordered all schools, colleges, and nurseries to remain open even as top scientists continue to warn that cases continue to rise in these settings.

People can continue to meet with other members of their household or one other individual in public settings to socialize or exercise, although people are not permitted to meet indoors or in private gardens.

The current lockdown imposed on November 5 aims at lowering COVID-19 cases and deaths and is set to end on December 2.

In total, the UK has reported 1,317,496 COVID-19 cases and 51,304 coronavirus related fatalities.
