As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 5.8 million cases and 165,696 deaths, France with 1.9 million cases and 44,246 deaths, and Russia with 1.9 million cases and 33,186 coronavirus related fatalities.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 54 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.3 million fatalities across 216 countries and territories.
