The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 11.9 million infections and 256,800 fatalities, although India follows closely behind with 8.9 million cases and 131,978 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 5.9 million cases and 167,497 deaths, France with 2 million cases and 46,698 deaths, and Russia with 2 million cases and 34,850 coronavirus related deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 56 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.3 million fatalities across 217 countries and territories.
