Canada: 2,694 new COVID-19 cases, 38 fatalities reported

On Friday, Canada reported 2,694 new COVID-19 cases and 38 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, Canada has reported 318,448 COVID-19 cases and 11,303 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 12.1 million infections and 259,702 fatalities, although India follows closely behind with 9 million cases and 132,732 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 5.9 million cases and 168,218 deaths, France with 2.1 million cases and 47,127 deaths, and Russia with 2 million cases and 35,311 coronavirus related deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 57 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.3 million fatalities across 217 countries and territories.
