Germany: 4,497 new COVID-19 cases, 89 fatalities reported

On Wednesday, Germany reported 4,497 new COVID-19 cases and 89 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, Germany has reported 967,403 COVID-19 cases and 15,054 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 12.9 million infections and 266,285 fatalities, although India follows closely behind with 9.2 million cases and 135,144 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.1 million cases and 170,199 deaths, Russia with 2.1 million cases and 37,538 deaths, and France with 2.1 million infections and 50,237 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 60 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.4 million fatalities across 217 countries and territories.
