Brazil: 24,468 new COVID-19 cases, 196 fatalities reported

On Sunday, Brazil reported 24,468 new COVID-19 cases and 196 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, Brazil has reported 6,314,740 COVID-19 cases and 172,833 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 13.7 million infections and 272,877 fatalities, although India follows with 9.4 million cases and 137,152 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.3 million cases and 172,833 deaths, Russia with 2.2 million cases and 39,527 deaths, and France with 2.2 million infections and 52,325 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 62 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.4 million fatalities across 217 countries and territories.
