Italy: 20,648 new COVID-19 cases, 541 fatalities reported

On Sunday, Italy reported 20,648 new COVID-19 cases and 541 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, Italy has reported 1,585,178 COVID-19 cases and 54,904 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 13.6 million infections and 272,355 fatalities, although India follows closely behind with 9.4 million cases and 137,121 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.2 million cases and 172,637 deaths, Russia with 2.2 million cases and 39,527 deaths, and France with 2.2 million infections and 52,127 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 62 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.4 million fatalities across 217 countries and territories.
