South Africa: 2,563 new COVID-19 cases, 38 fatalities reported

On Sunday, South Africa reported 2,563 new COVID-19 cases and 38 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, South Africa has reported 787,702 COVID-19 cases and 21,477 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 13.7 million infections and 272,932 fatalities, although India follows with 9.4 million cases and 137,177 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.3 million cases and 172,833 deaths, Russia with 2.2 million cases and 39,527 deaths, and France with 2.2 million infections and 52,325 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 63 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.4 million fatalities across 217 countries and territories.
