The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 14.1 million infections and 277,500 fatalities, although India follows with 9.5 million cases and 138,486 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.3 million cases and 173,979 deaths, Russia with 2.3 million cases and 41,053 deaths, and France with 2.2 million infections and 53,506 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 64 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.4 million fatalities across 217 countries and territories.
