Brazil: 50,434 new COVID-19 cases, 739 fatalities reported

On Thursday, Brazil reported 50,434 new COVID-19 cases and 739 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, Brazil has reported 6,487,084 COVID-19 cases and 175,270 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 14.4 million infections and 281,947 fatalities, although India follows with 9.5 million cases and 139,102 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.4 million cases and 175,270 deaths, Russia with 2.3 million cases and 41,607 deaths, and France with 2.2 million infections and 54,140 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 65 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.5 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
