Japan: 2,441 new COVID-19 cases, 41 fatalities reported

On Thursday, Japan reported 2,441 new COVID-19 cases and 41 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, Japan has reported 152,827 COVID-19 cases and 2,213 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 14.3 million infections and 280,385 fatalities, although India follows with 9.5 million cases and 138,946 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.4 million cases and 174,531 deaths, Russia with 2.3 million cases and 41,607 deaths, and France with 2.2 million infections and 53,816 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 65 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.5 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
