
On Friday, South Korea reported 629 new COVID-19 cases and seven additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.
In total, South Korea has reported 36,332 COVID-19 cases and 536 coronavirus related fatalities.
The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 14.5 million infections and 282,829 fatalities, although India follows with 9.5 million cases and 139,227 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.4 million cases and 175,307 deaths, Russia with 2.3 million cases and 41,607 deaths, and France with 2.2 million infections and 54,140 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 65 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.5 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
