
On Sunday, South Africa reported 4,116 new COVID-19 cases and 139 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.
In total, South Africa has reported 814,565 COVID-19 cases and 22,206 coronavirus related fatalities.
The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 15.1 million infections and 288,632 fatalities, although India follows with 9.6 million cases and 140,590 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.5 million cases and 176,721 deaths, Russia with 2.4 million cases and 43,141 deaths, and France with 2.2 million infections and 55,155 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 67 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.5 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
