South Korea: 682 new COVID-19 cases, 8 fatalities reported

On Thursday, South Korea reported 682 new COVID-19 cases and eight additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, South Korea has reported 40,098 COVID-19 cases and 564 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 15.8 million infections and 296,698 fatalities, although India follows behind with 9.7 million cases and 141,735 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.7 million cases and 179,032 deaths, Russia with 2.5 million cases and 44,718 deaths, and France with 2.3 million infections and 56,648 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 69 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.5 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
