France: 17,615 new COVID-19 cases, 289 fatalities reported

On Wednesday, France reported 17,615 new COVID-19 cases and 289 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, France has reported 2,409,062 COVID-19 cases and 59,361 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 17.2 million infections and 312,811 fatalities, although India follows behind with 9.9 million cases and 144,353 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.9 million cases and 183,053 deaths, Russia with 2.7 million cases and 48,564 deaths, and France with 2.4 million infections and 59,361 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 74 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.6 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
