United States: 175,839 new COVID-19 cases, 2,715 fatalities reported

On Wednesday, the United States reported 175,839 new COVID-19 cases and 2,715 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, the United States has reported 17,321,298 COVID-19 cases and 313,806 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 17.3 million infections and 313,806 fatalities, although India follows behind with 9.9 million cases and 144,487 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 7 million cases and 183,735 deaths, Russia with 2.7 million cases and 48,564 deaths, and France with 2.4 million infections and 59,361 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 74 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.6 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
