On Thursday, France reported 18,254 new COVID-19 cases and 258 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.
In total, France has reported 2,427,316 COVID-19 cases and 59,619 coronavirus related fatalities.
The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 17.4 million infections and 315,805 fatalities, although India follows behind with 9.9 million cases and 144,829 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 7 million cases and 183,959 deaths, Russia with 2.7 million cases and 49,151 deaths, and France with 2.4 million infections and 59,619 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 74 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.6 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
