On Thursday, Emmanuel Macron’s office announced that the French president had tested positive for COVID-19, after previously showing symptoms.
The president will now isolate and work remotely for seven days to limit the spread of coronavirus.
Macron’s wife, Brigitte Macron, will also self isolate following the positive test, although her office said that she had not displayed any COVID-19 symptoms.
It is unknown where Macron could have contracted the virus, although his office said tracking efforts were underway.
