On Friday, Germany reported 12,944 new COVID-19 cases and 317 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.
In total, Germany has reported 1,451,382 COVID-19 cases and 25,482 coronavirus related fatalities.
The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 17.6 million infections and 318,209 fatalities, although India trails behind with 9.9 million cases and 144,914 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 7.1 million cases and 184,876 deaths, Russia with 2.7 million cases and 49,762 deaths, and France with 2.4 million infections and 59,619 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 75.4 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.6 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
