On Friday, Portugal reported 4,336 new COVID-19 cases and 75 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.
In total, Portugal has reported 366,952 COVID-19 cases and 5,977 coronavirus related fatalities.
The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 17.6 million infections and 318,209 fatalities, although India trails behind with 9.9 million cases and 144,914 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 7.1 million cases and 184,876 deaths, Russia with 2.7 million cases and 49,762 deaths, and France with 2.4 million infections and 59,619 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 75.4 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.6 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
