The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 19 million infections and 336,145 fatalities, although India trails behind with 10.1 million cases and 147,128 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 7.4 million cases and 189,982 deaths, Russia with 2.9 million cases and 53,096 deaths, and France with 2.5 million infections and 62,268 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 79.6 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.7 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
