The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 20.9 million infections and 360,059 fatalities, although India trails behind with 10.3 million cases and 149,686 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 7.7 million cases and 196,018 deaths, Russia with 3.2 million cases and 58,506 deaths, and France with 2.6 million infections and 65,037 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 85.4 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.8 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
